The location was phenomenal and the hotel had a private parking lot nearby which made it perfect! We loved the style of the hotel. The room was large and had plenty of space to relax and have our luggage open without feeling cramped. The bathroom was also a great size with room for all our toiletries. There was a wonderful breakfast with plenty of offerings, including eggs, meats, cereals, fruits, and of course, many different types of breads. We loved the hotel and the town. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Enormous historic property just brimming with character and gathering spaces. The staff was uniformly helpful and kind. Breakfast was incredible, tons of options and group seating in an elegant dining room. There are art installation and Lutheran pamphlets scattered about (the chapel and such are not accessible). Also a music festival was happening during our stay (we sometimes heard them and there was interesting lighting but was not loud at night). Close to the town by the stairs or with a car. Enjoyed the gardens and exploring the public spaces of the old building. Great atmosphere for telling ghost stories. Overall it was wonderful!

The half-timbered buildings, cobbled streets and brightly painted façades of medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber wouldn’t be out of place in a fairytale. Several fantastical films have been set in this gem on the scenic Romantic Road, passing from Würzburg to Füssen via Bavaria’s most enchanting towns.
Uniquely designed gates allow access to the historic centre through walls partly covered with tiled roofs. Walking along the walls offers a different perspective of the town’s colourful flowers, step gables and towers. The town hall has the tallest tower, whose far-reaching views include the large Marktplatz, home of the Christmas market. The Christmas Museum is a year-round winter wonderland, as is the shop of Käthe Wohlfahrt, the internationally renowned German Christmas decoration producer.
On a different note, the Crime Museum houses medieval torture instruments including a ducking stool. Holy Blood and Last Supper altarpieces form the focal point of towering St James’ Church, a stop on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route.
In the River Tauber valley outside the centre are lush gardens, one containing Toppler Castle, a bizarre structure resembling a house on a tower. Also in the valley is a double-arched stone bridge.
The Rothenburg ob der Tauber accommodation on Booking.com includes traditional guest houses and family hotels with a spa and parking.

Beautiful town and we were very happy we included it on our tour. Walking the wall was a great experience but you really don't have to walk the whole thing. We were there in the shoulder season, March, and pretty much nothing opened, shops & museums, until 2pm when the tour busses arrived. We specifically stayed overnight because of advice to be there without "hordes" of tourists and to see the town lit up. Problem was that there isn't any exterior lighting and we had the town pretty much to ourselves all morning. When the tour busses leave it turns into a ghost town. Shops close, which are all cheap tourist shops and not interesting anyway. Also, we had an extremely difficult time finding a place for dinner. There aren't many restaurants and because of that reservations are required. Happy we saw the town but spending six hours would have been enough.

Old town is the place to be.
Old town is the place to be. Beautiful architecture, history and it really feels like you are in Pinocchio’s fairytale village. Worth visiting and you don’t need more than 2-3 nights to fully explore it. And you can walk everywhere.

We stayed three nights and spent 2-1/2 days in the old town.
We stayed three nights and spent 2-1/2 days in the old town. We’ve been here many times but there’s plenty to see and do. We recommend the Rothenberger Handworker’s house tour, an ancient house unchanged since the 1700s, St Jakob’s church, the criminal museum, the night watchman’s tour, and walking the town’s perimeter walls and towers. These help illustrate medieval life and how people lived back then, and how good we have it today!

This is a stunning walled medieval town!
This is a stunning walled medieval town! You can walk around most of the wall - stork nests can be seen if you look carefully! Every street is beautiful with gift shops and cafes. The castle gardens are great to relax in and at the bottom you are rewarded with an amazing view down to the river Tauber.

Its indeed a Fairytale town (fortified).
Its indeed a Fairytale town (fortified).
One night stay would be perfect to enjoy the old town´s colorful buildings and architecture with many towers standing high at every corner of the old town guarded by city walls (Day view and Night view of the old is must).
It has a very rich heritage to tell as you stroll through the old town wondering why this was built and the purpose. This curiosity was sated by the night watchman´s 1hr guided tour that starts in Market square.
The city wall is one of amazing structure which I had never seen before that runs through out the town like a fortress hiding behind is the beautiful buildings from medieval age still preserved with many reconstructed.
There are many places to visit and for me the Rothenburg museum was the best to know about the history, going back in time (approx. 700 yrs).
Plenty of restaurants and food was pretty good too, best snack "Schnee ball"
I wish I would visit this town again on a full moon night :-)

My family loves to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
My family loves to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The town is very walkable and there are plenty of places to explore for a few days. Check out the museum's and take your time walking through the park outside the walls. If staying overnight take a trip with the nightwatchman. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is beautiful in Autumn and magical at Christmas.

Amazing location. Just inside the city walls, parking just moments away and very affordable via accomodation.
Great layout for a family of 4 - big rooms and space. Clean, great kitchen setup - you do need to clean up after yourself but no issues (dishwasher tablets & liquid supplied). No clothes washing facilities however ok assuming next location has them if travelling for a long time. wouldn’t think twice about staying here if I’m Rothenburg ob der Tauber again.
The location of the hotel is perfect, in the center of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. You can walk anywhere by foot. The staff is kind and friendly. You can have meals in the restaurant as well. The hotel is very clean and has all the facilities advertised. We requested a double bed and we were inforned in advanced that we might receive two single beds. For one night, it is Ok, we appreciated that the hotel informed us in advance.
I recently stayed at China Restaurant Hotel Lotus in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for three nights. The property exceeded my expectations in terms of staff friendliness, cleanliness, and comfort. The location was convenient, and the facilities provided were satisfactory. I reached the destination city by train, which was a convenient mode of transport. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I would recommend it to others.
The couple that own this cute hotel were the nicest people! Super accommodating, friendly, helpful. Loved them! The location is perfect. A quieter part of Rothenburg and you can easily walk everywhere you want to go. The hotel is quaint, charming, and exactly what I would want for this amazing city! The breakfast was EXCELLENT! The best we had in Germany. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
We have stayed here many times over the last 25 years. The owners are very friendly and helpful and have onsite parking. Breakfasts are excellent and have a nice variety of food. It’s in a quiet location and it’s a short walk to the main entrance to the old town. It’s much easier and less expensive to stay here than try to find a hotel that has parking in or near the old town.
Everything! The excellent staff, weekend and weekday, were so welcoming and made you feel so comfortable. The charming building is beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were wonderful, with many choices. Rooms and building are very clean. Excellent location in such a charming village. Our favorite hotel on our month vacation in Germany and Austria.
The location of the hotel is along the city wall. Views were amazing and the hotel was simply beautiful. The owners and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A handwritten bill/receipt from Otto Berger is a treasure in itself. We have recommended a stay here to all family and friends who are fortunate to travel to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Location is great, near the city center surrounded by lovely tiny shops and a good burger restaurant. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The host was friendly and provided us insightful information and pointers for spending our time in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Absolutely adorable hotel in the city center if Rothenburg ob der Tauber! The furniture was beautiful, hand painted traditional German and the room was a good size. Breakfast was delicious and well worth the money. The staff was friendly. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
This was the best hotel we have stayed at in Europe. The decor in room, lobby, and the breakfast room is elegant. The room and bathroom were gigantic with very tall ceilings. The location could not have been better. The breakfast was delicious with many options.
The hotel is nice, modest, but everything works, it is clean and quiet. The location is good, close to the city center. There is parking, and the breakfast was varied and delicious. The host was kind, he gave us a bigger room.
Good hotel at one of the entrances of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, perfect for arriving with your car.

They were extremely organized and the hotel used all local grown foods. It literally was the best food we had on our trip. The owner really pays attention to detail. The location is right by the town square.
Excellent location, beautiful and comfortable room. The breakfast is great, it's served in the hotel restaurant, one of the best choices (if not the best) in the town.
Highly recommended place.
It's the best hotel in Rothenburg, I come here regularly and love it each time
The rooms are warm and clean and comfortable. The rooms overlooking the Tauber valley have magnificent views
Very quaint Germany hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful despite a booking issue w Booking.com. Booking.com double booked me a room and they worked to just charge me for one room.
